The Keymark scheme for thermal insulation products for buildings has been implemented. The Keymark certificate is used for more than 1000 products today from several different countries and covering 5 of the 10 thermal insulation product families for building products.
It is important for industry to also find ONE common European scheme for the industrial area. Certification is strongly needed by the users in this area.
SDG-5 has asked for an evaluation of the draft standards together with the rules
(established for the building insulation product standards EN 13162 through 13171 and the
Evaluation of Conformity standard EN 13172). The evaluation shall cover any needs for adjustments or additions to the existing SDG-5 rules for building products to cover the needs for CEN/TC88/WG 10 standards.
Experience from existing national certification schemes shall be used as far as possible.
The need for An ‘Expert group’ for thermal conductivity at higher temperatures and possibly other test methods shall be evaluated. CEN/TC89 has a task group working on reference material both for flat products and for pipe insulation. The IRMM 440 reference material covers up to 80-100 degrees.
