The role and tasks of the Expert group is described in the SDG-5 Internal Rules Appendix B.
The main tasks are to establish and maintain the European reference level for thermal conductivity at 10 degree Celsius mean temperature, and to assist candidate registered laboratories in achieving this.
For the active laboratories the specific expert equipment at each laboratory is clearly identified and listed (on an internal list available to the members and the SDG-5 secretariat only).
These specific test equipments are used for all testing of Keymark test specimens for comparative testing both between the expert group laboratories and for checking of the calibration level for candidate registered laboratories.
The result of the first comparative testing in SDG-5 can be found in document SDG-5 Expert Group N 9. A detailed report including all relevant information for the evaluation of the test results is available only to the participants in the testing and to the SDG-5 secretariat. When evaluating the test results from all expert group members from both the first comparative and further testing made, it has been shown that there is no systematic difference between these laboratories.
For the empowered certification bodies a list of registered laboratories has been prepared and is being updated by the Expert Group. The list includes information on registered test equipment(s) and the testing capability as well as the products for which the registered laboratories have experience in thermal testing. The list is based on information given by the laboratories and confirmed during audits performed by Expert Group members.
Any questions regarding the Expert group should be addressed to the SDG-5 secretariat. You may contact your local expert group member. A list of active members and associate members can be found in document SDG-5 Expert Group N 6 rev.12.
A more detailed description of the work of the expert group and the requirements for registered laboratories can be found in SDG-5 Expert Group N 22 rev.1.
Information on the European reference level for thermal conductivity at 10 degree Celsius mean temperature and use of historical data is given in NB-CPD/SG19/03/003. Specific requirements for manufacturers' documentation for thermal conductivity equipment for CE marking and Keymarking is described in NB-CPD/SG19/N 58.
